Jenny and Johnny on KCRW Morning Becomes Eclectic. So good.
Last night I went to the Jenny and Johnny show. Needless to say, it was amazing. I didn’t want to bring a camera because I always bring cameras to shows and then I feel like I’m missing out on the performance. Instead of trying to capture moments or fiddling with my camera, I wanted to just enjoy the show while I was there. Not later that night looking through pictures. Jenny and Johnny were flawless. They played almost everything I wanted to hear. New Yorker Cartoon, Just like Zeus, Slavedriver, Animal, Scissor Runner, My Pet Snakes, Straight Edge of the Blade, Committed, Big Wave, Johnny’s Stuck Out in the Desert, Jenny’s The Next Messiah and Carpetbaggers. Then they closed the show with just Jenny and Johnny and sang End of the Affair and Silver Lining. Honestly, I almost cried when I heard End of the Affair. Such a weird place to hear it and to see Jenny and Johnny sing it with such passion and pain. When the “5 year ex” and I stopped talking a few years ago, I sent him this song and told him it fit our situation perfectly. Then being at the Cashbah, a venue he would always tell me about… hearing that song there was just a tiny bit painful. Ahh… but another great show put on by Jenny Lewis. I can’t wait for the next one.
Big Wave | Jenny and Johnny
“I know you feel deprived (you don’t trust me), our love is still alive (you never touch me). It’s really just that I don’t feel like it much these days”
This is the best part of the song. Although in concert Johnny croons “fuck” instead of “touch” which, in my opinion, is much better.
